Unrestricted category for riding any motorcycle without power or displacement limits
What is Category A?
Category “A” comprises two-wheeled motorcycles without a sidecar with a cylinder capacity of at least 595 cm3 (if equipped with an electric motor, a power-to-weight ratio of at least 0.25 kW/kg), an unladen mass of at least 180 kg, and a minimum engine power of 50 kW.
Which vehicles are you allowed to ride?
Motorcycles that do not fall into categories “A1” or “A2”, nor into the restricted “A” category, as well as motor tricycles with an output exceeding15 kW.
Application requirements
- Valid identity card and address card.
- At least primary school education.
- Valid medical fitness certificate (not required if you already hold a valid driving licence whose validity is subject to medical fitness).
- Minimum age of 23 years and 6 months, or minimum age of 20 years if you have at least two years’ riding experience on an “A2” category motorcycle.
