Motorcycle category with a maximum cylinder capacity of 125 cm3
What is Category A1?
An A1 category two-wheeled motorcycle is one whose power does not exceed 11 kW and whose power-to-weight ratio does not exceed 0.1 kW/kg, and which is capable of reaching a speed of at least 90 km/h. For internal combustion engines the cylinder capacity is at least 120 cm3; for electric drive, the power-to-weight ratio is at least 0.08 kW/kg.
Which vehicles are you allowed to ride?
Motorcycles whose cylinder capacity does not exceed 125 cm3, whose power does not exceed 11 kW, and whose power-to-weight ratio does not exceed 0.1 kW/kg; and motor tricycles whose power does not exceed 15 kW.
Application requirements
- Valid identity card and address card.
- At least primary school education.
- Valid medical fitness certificate (not required if you already hold a valid driving licence whose validity is subject to medical fitness).
- Minimum age: 15 years 6 months.
- For A1(B) category: a valid category B driving licence.
Obligatory hours
Without a category B driving license
Theoretical course: 22 lessons
Practical lessons: 6 + 10 lessons + 1 hour traffic exam, required min 240 km
