What does “two-stage learning” mean?

For category B driving licenses, we call it a two-stage learning method when you begin practical training in a car with an automatic transmission and later switch to a manual transmission. We recommend this for people who are interested in both types of cars but want to obtain their license in a manual car, or for learners who consider themselves less confident.

The mandatory protective equipment includes the following: protective gloves, high-top (ankle protection), closed shoes made of strong material, helmet (plexi), spine protector, elbow and knee protectors, long-sleeved and long-sleeved clothing (you cannot ride a motorcycle with exposed skin!).

It is best to obtain protective equipment before the first practical lesson, as these are essential parts of motorcycling. We can provide a helmet, protective shirt and knee protectors in the very first lesson if necessary, but later on you must bring your own equipment.

How should I choose an instructor?

You should consider the following points: personal rapport, location of practical lessons, meeting points, whether your prospective instructor’s schedule overlaps with yours, and the type of instructor vehicle.

We call “pótóra” any lessons the student takes above the legally required number of lessons (29 plus the exam lesson). With us there is no extra charge for these. You can read more about our prices.

What do I need to transfer my registration?

You need the document called the “Képzési igazolás” (Training Certificate), which you should request from your current driving school. You can find more information about transfers.

What is PÁV? When and how do I have to apply for it?

PÁV (pályaalkalmassági vizsgálat, track/fitness-for-track test) must be taken by a learner after the 5th unsuccessful road exam. You can find detailed information on how to register here.

How can I pay you?

We offer flexible payment options. You can pay for both theoretical and practical training with Qvick, cash, bank card, or bank transfer.

For practical lessons we recommend settling the fee for each lesson immediately after the lesson so you don’t accumulate debt with the school.

How can I book a theoretical exam appointment?

The driving school will book your first theoretical exam appointment for you after you have completed the theoretical course. If you haven’t passed the exam, you can book an appointment in the main office on-site after card payment, or we are also happy to help. In that case, contact us by phone.

How can I book a practical exam appointment?

The driving school registers you for the road exam after coordination with your instructor. Exam dates are posted in the central system at least two weeks in advance. We will try to book the most convenient date for you that also suits the instructor, but slots are often competitive, so we cannot guarantee a particular date.
You can read about the exam’s starting locations here.

What level of education is required to obtain a driving license?

At least a basic level of education (8 years of primary school) is required to obtain a driving license. You must prove this at the exam center before the theoretical exam by presenting the original diploma/certificate. Copies or scanned versions are not accepted.

Registration for the first-aid exam is done independently on the Hungarian Red Cross website. After registering you will see available time slots, which will be reserved for you after online payment.

Category changes for motorcycle training are possible upward or downward except for category AM. The request can be submitted after the successful theory (KRESZ) exam and before the first practical (closed circuit) exam.

In the Downloads menu you will find the document called ‘Kategória módosítási kérelem’ (Category Change Request). Complete that form and send it to this email address: budapest@kavk.hu. One sentence of justification is sufficient; you may leave the ‘KAV registration number’ field blank. The exam center is expected to reply by email within about 3 days.
