Mátyás Pétervári

My name is Mátyás Pétervári, I’m 44 years old and a father of two. I first rode a motorcycle at age eleven - it was my mother’s Honda Cub. Ever since, motorcycles have been with me day and night. It gives me great joy that my children have been joining me on trail rides since they were four, so it has become a family activity.

My off‑road motorcycling outside of public roads began in 2003 with enduro riding, which I continue to practice enthusiastically during the winter months. Not long after, in 2005, I went to an asphalt racetrack for the first time, and that passion has lasted to this day. During the season, if I can, I try to improve my lap times weekly or every other week at Pannonia Ring, Slovakia Ring, or - when short on time - at Euroring.

I started teaching vehicle handling in 2004, at first using off‑road vehicles. In 2007 I encountered the Honda Safety concept, and after being selected as an instructor I began my training. That experience completely reshaped my views on motorcycle control and set me on a new path. Thanks to the work of my mentors, the world of motorcycle riding technique opened up for me.

I realised that if I remain sufficiently humble, modest and persistent, learning motorcycle handling can be a lifelong pursuit.

I try to pass this mindset on to every student I work with, hoping to help reduce the number of people who confuse riding a motorcycle with simply being on the road.
